Languages of the Timor region

Timor and surrounds is home to a number of Austronesian and non-Austronesian languages.

Current members of the ANU who have been involved in language work from this area include:

  • Mark Donohue;
  • Owen Edwards;
  • Katharine Gosling;
  • Rachel Hendery;
  • Virginia Dawson.
  • In July 2012 Katharine, Mark and Owen met up with Dan Kaufman, of the Endangered Languages Alliance, to run a two-week language documentation workshop in Kupang, the capital of West Timor.
